as part of the nations efforts towards upgrading and and maintaining an international standard in the maritime industry of Nigeria, doubled with the understanding that the maritime sector has a major role in moving driving the nations economy with an accelerated speed to the needed height. To this end it has become needful that the nation trains up young minds who will be able to capably man the maritime sector.
The Nigeria Maritime Univeristy
As response to the above mentioned needs, The Nigerian Maritime University (NMU) was established. The Nigeria Maritime Univeristy which is located at Okerenkoko with its takeoff campus at Kurutie Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State is established under the ownership of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The university has been granted full approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence undergraduate degree programmes.
The approval was with effect from the 2017/2018 academic session.
In a statement released by NUC , the commission said that they have officially approved that The National Maritime University Okerenkoko, Delta State should commence undergraduate academic activities in Transport, Engineering and Environmental Management faculties.
The Nigerian Maritime University Courses and Admission Requirements

B.Sc. Nautical Science requirements
Applicants are expected ro have Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry Biology and Geography
JAMB Subject Combination:
English Language, and three of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology
B.Sc. Transport logistics Management, B.Sc. Marine Economics and Finance, and B.Sc. Port Management requirements:
All candidates are expected to have Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and one other social science subject

The Faculty of Engineering
It has five departments which are:
5.Petroleum and Gas Engineering
Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics Chemistry and Biology are required from candidates who may wish to apply for any of the courses.

The faculty has four departments which are:
